Growing for Good
For several months we have wanted to start including a non-profit in our work with our events, and so we are really really excited to welcome Urban Harvest to Grow.
“Urban Harvest STL believes in food rights - all members of our community should have equitable access to fresh, healthy food regardless of socioeconomic status, race or location. We grow healthy produce across a network of seven urban farms in the heart of St. Louis and donate the majority of the harvest to nonprofit partners serving communities with limited or non-existent access to healthy, nutritious food. Urban Harvest STL also educates and engages the surrounding community in these efforts.”
Urban Harvest also hosts a series of dinners, happy hours and Yoga events on their food roofs. Check out their entire line-up for the summer here: https://www.urbanharveststl.org/events.
Saturday their Young Friends board will be setting up a tent to spread the word about how you can get involved, visit a farm, volunteer at events or donate to support their work! Stop by and chat with them about all of their work and hear more about giving a little back.
“Your generous support helps us build a resilient food system while promoting healthy, affordable food access to underserved communities, urban agriculture education, biodiversity development in cities, and community programming. You can support us by donating at https://www.urbanharveststl.org/donate, attending one of our events at https://www.urbanharveststl.org/events, or reaching out to firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to volunteer with or learn more about our Young Friends Board.”
